A RIDING LESSON IN TOWN (Houston, TX 77018)
Virginia Neal Ellis teaches very experienced equestrians - utilizing the framework of Positive Reinforcement, R+ - horseback riding lessons, handling, husbandry or care lessons,
with her excellent horses
just north of downtown Houston.
My horses will not be suitable for beginners. They require a skilled, confident R+ partner.
Are you an experienced rider? Do you also have other experience with ABA or have you trained a dog, chicken, cat, zoo animal, pig, fish, bird or other creature using R+?
If so, would you like to work with my amazing Mustang or Warmblood, utilizing choice, consent, R+ with classical conditioning? You'll get to experience an entirely different sort of horse relationship. It's truly enriching, for both of you.

We will develop relaxation and use desirable R+ forms of reinforcement.

I can only accept students who have a previous history of using positive reinforcement, R+, with other pets or horses.
Virginia is available for lessons mostly during the day, during the week. She mostly works with adults.
I teach using an English saddle, with a bitless bridle. I believe that having a balanced seat in an English saddle (or Bareback) will allow us to be comfortable when riding in any style saddle. As we move with the horse, syncing in tempo and rhythm, communicating in a way the horse desires, we find that use of the reins becomes unnecessary.

Generally speaking, we and our animals behave because, either there is something in it for us/them, or we/they want to avoid an icky consequence.
We/they are usually moving toward something desirable or away from something undesirable.

*Do you have a basic working knowledge of
Behavior Science?
*Have you trained several
animals using only R+?
*Do you have a good understanding
of the different communication quadrants and
how to assess core emotional states?
*Do you have a minimum of about 200
hours in the saddle?
*Do you know about intrinsic motivation
relevant to horses?
